The doors open at 12:15 pm so that we can start at 1:15 pm. The programme is scheduled to end at about 4:30 pm.

A reception will be held afterwards for those who wish to stay and chat over snacks and rinks. The doors will close at 18:30 pm.

Meet the speakers

Benedicte Sandbaek

Business Line Leader Eurofins

Benedicte Sandbaek is National Business Line Leader at Eurofins Food, Feed & Water Benelux. She gained years of experience in other positions at Eurofins Vitamin Testing A/S, Essentia Protein Solutions, BHJ and Eurofins Group. Sandbaek earned a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) in Business Administration and Management from Coventry University between 2009 and 2012. She combines her extensive skill set with experience in the food industry, ingredients, HACCP, food processing, meat and more.

Koen De Reu

Controlling foodborne pathogens in the production environment: a practical approach

Koen De Reu graduated from the Faculty of Bioengineering at Ghent University. He began his professional career at the former Rijkszuivelstation in Melle. In 2000, he changed his position when he began his research career in food microbiology. This led to a PhD in Applied Biological Sciences. He currently works as a Senior Researcher at the now refocused and renamed ‘Research Institute for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food,’ Technology and Nutrition Unit. His research continues to focus on microbiological research throughout the agro-food chain, with particular attention to poultry microbiology, foodborne pathogens such as Salmonella and Listeria monocytogenes, cleaning and disinfection, and biofilms. He has been the supervisor of more than 10 PhDs and author of about 75 scientific publications.

Max van Leeuwen

Listeria Management - Insights from 10 Years of Regulation in the Netherlands

Max van Leeuwen has been director at Eurofins Food Safety Solutions since May 2022. He is no stranger to the food sector. You may even know him from his previous position when he worked as Group QESH manager at Group of Butchers. He once said: ‘The theory behind nutrition fascinates me. Why is a food tasty or does it last longer? Why does it have a particular colour? And what effect does packaging have on the final product?'

Studying Food&Business in Delft and later with the Master Food Quality Management at Wageningen University, he is an important pillar in the food sector.

How to test for food fraud?

Eric Jamin is the Business Unit Manager of the Eurofins Authenticity Competence Center. After initial PhD research on stable isotope analysis of fruit and tobacco, he has been involved in quality assurance, customer support and Research & Development in food analytical chemistry. To date, he has contributed to more than 50 scientific publications.
